The decision was taken after Union Human Resource Development Ministry contacted authorities at IIM, Ahmedabad, the coordinating body for the all India exams, which said the leaked papers matched the original, official sources said.

The Ministry officials had contacted the IIM authorities on the directive of Human Resource Development Minister Murli Manohar Joshi.

The fresh dates for the exams would be announced later, the sources said.

Earlier, the CBI on Sunday arrested four persons, including three doctors, for allegedly leaking CAT papers, claiming that a nation-wide racket involving crores of rupees has been busted.

The agency sleuths, on a tip off, raided a hotel in Mahipalpur area of South West Delhi, seized copies of the question papers and arrested the four persons while they were allegedly giving out the questions along with answers of CAT to four candidates, CBI said.

The four, including three doctors from Bihar, had been charging Rs two to Rs four lakhs for leaking the papers, they said.

The arrests were made when thousands of candidates were taking the exams in several centres spread across the country.
