Concluding probe in a record three-day time, the police today chargesheeted three of the five accused in connection with the gangrape of a 25-year-old Japanese tourist.
The chargesheet was filed in the court of Gaya Chief Judicial Magistrate Rajesh Narain Sevak Pandey in Gaya on Wednesday afternoon, SP Sushil Khopade said.
Out of the five persons named in the case, chargesheet was filed against Pappu, Uday and Lutan, who are in judicial custody in Gaya jail, while Lotan and Rajan are still absconding, he said.
Lotan is the prime accused in the case, Khopade said.
The five had allegedly pulled the woman out of an auto-rickshaw carrying her from Bodh Gaya to the Gaya railway station before committing the crime at an isolated place on Friday night.
The Japanese woman is a resident of Itabolutachi in Tokyo and is currently on a tour of various Buddhist pilgrim towns in India.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had ordered a speedy trial of the case.
