Lawyer and ex-chairman of Kashmir Committee Ram Jethmalani has stirred a controversy with separatists reacting sharply to his remarks of "many separatists being pro-India."
"Jethmalani should identify those pro-freedom political leaders that want to be with India," said hardline Hurriyat chairman Syed Ali Geelani.
Geelani was reacting to disclosure made by Jethmalani on Saturday where he said, "All separatists are not Pakistan agents. It is possible that at one time they were pro-Pakistan, but I am glad to tell you that majority of them want to be with India."
Geelani accused the former BJP leader of "creating confusion and doubts" about separatists.
"If it's true then India in no case should delay plebiscite," said Geelani.
Jethmalani also backed former Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf's four-point formula saying "it was fantastic and wonderful and should be made basis for solution of the issue."
"I had made some changes to Musharraf proposal and the purpose of the document was that there should be a secular democracy in place on both sides of Kashmir."
Jethmalani said he had been working for Kashmir for a long time and claimed that Musharraf sent his proposal "to me through a common friend."

However, Geelani said he rejected the four-point formula. "It does not serve any purpose and we think it is against the aspiration of people of Jammu and Kashmir," he added.
