A government hospital in Billawar, Kathua district is in for an upgrade soon. Bharatiya Janta Party leader and MLA from Billawar, Nirmal Singh has said that the beds in the hospital, which are currently mere 30 in number, will be raised to 100. He made the announcement at the annual function of the Government Degree College in the town.
Singh said the hospital has appointed only 35 faculty members on contractual basis out of a total of 41. This, according to him, is a marker of how the state doesn't put health services high on its priority list.
"Many institutions lack even basic infrastructure. The education department is also affected by corruption and it will be made corruption free," he said in his address to the students.
Singh had more gifts in his bag for the residents and students particularly. He said that the authorities at Jammu University will be approached to set up a PG accommodation for the students. The sub campus of the university may also begin operation soon and that efforts will be made to start a pharmacy school in the region.
