The newly formed Gujarati Association of North America, which is organising the event, says it expects around 2,000 delegates to make it the biggest-ever gathering of people of Gujarati origin.

Topics like problems faced by young people in adjusting to societies other than their own will be discussed, among other things.

The Federation of Indian Associations (FIA) Tri-state, Vishwa Gujarati Samaj, Gujarati Samaj of New Jersey and other Gujarati Associations from across the United States have promised to support the event, the organisers said at a press conference.

"This would be a unique way of projecting Gujarat to the whole world and mainstream American communities," said Prakash Shah, Chairperson of the convention.

Delegates are expected from India, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and the Middle East.
