Gujarati movie producer Phiroz Vaghela was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly threatening to throw acid on an actress and kill her if she refused to marry him, the police said.
In a police complaint registered with the police on Thursday, actress Karishma Appasaheb Mhaske had alleged that he entered her hotel room on the night of June 10 and proposed marriage to her.
"I refused his proposal saying he is a married man and a father of three children. I want to continue to pursue acting," her complaint said.
However the producer allegedly beat her up, pulled her hair, threatened to throw acid on her and kill her. Soon after the incident, she left her hotel room and lodged the complaint.
She has been residing in Navsari town and has been acting in movies for the past couple of years.
