The Delhi High Court on Thursday directed the Election Commission to file a status report by Friday on the alleged incidents of booth capturing and poll-related violence by Samajwadi candidate Afzaal Ansari, the brother of mafia don Mukhtar Ansari, and his supporters in Ghazipur Lok Sabha constituency which went to polls on April 26.

The direction came from Justice Manmohan Sarin on a petition filed by sitting BJP MP Manoj Sinha, who sought directions to the Commission to inquire into the alleged widespread violence and poll irregularities in Ghazipur and take appropriate remedial action.
