Hindu and Sikh families, who were rendered homeless due to Pakistan military's offensive against Taliban militants in Swat valley, were safe in the government camps at Gurdwara Panja Sahib, an Indian delegation which was on a three-day visit to the country said on Sunday.
The thirteen-member delegation led by Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) president Paramjit Singh Sarna, which today returned from Pakistan, said that all the affected Hindu and Sikh families were safe in government camps and getting good hygienic food.
Talking to media, Sarna said Pakistan government also disbursed Rs 30,000 cash to each Sikh and Hindu family at Gurdwara Panja Sahib.
The delegation which went to Pakistan on May 21 met all the affected families and said they were keen to move back to their homes in Swat as soon as normalcy returns there.
He said that there were 3100 migrated families in the camps out of which 468 were Sikhs.
Sarna said that the Pakistan Sikhs also congratulated PM Manmohan Singh on his successive second term as a prime minister of India, saying it would improve India and Pakistan relations.
