The Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) is working on a plan to use school buses to ferry passengers within the city during holidays.
Huda's estate officer Mukesh Solanki held a meeting with authorities of more than 45 private schools. He also sought the opinion of the state transport department. "We have sought the opinion of school authorities. They will submit their feedback shortly and on the basis of feedback we will decide future course of action," he said. A senior Huda official said that all private schools together have about 1,000 buses. "These buses are not in use during vacations and parked in residential colonies, causing traffic snarls." Residents have been complaining about parking of school buses in colonies, leaving less space for their own vehicles.
"There are four schools located in our sector. They do not have parking facilities inside their campus. They park their vehicles on vacant plots or in front of houses," said JS Dagar, a resident of Sector 45.
Some residents have been opposing parking of buses inside their colonies.
