I hate saying goodbyes and writing one as my last piece for this column is making me a little sad. Nonetheless, it has been a journey of self-discovery and expression, and at times even an attempt to raise awareness - for others and myself.Many a times, I just sat for hours together, without a clue what to write on.
But the writing and feedback from readers made this entire experience an enriching one.
In my last column, I wrote about renovations going on in my house. They’re still on and I sit in one tiny corner of the available space in my house, trying to put my thoughts on paper. It’s tough. The carpenter has just informed me that he broke a brand new mirror. Don’t know if this means bad luck or something untoward that has been averted. I hope it’s the latter. Anyway, moving on, recently I went to a few Ganpati pandals across the city and was surprised when some young guys came to me and told me that they enjoyed my columns.
That was a revelation for me. To be able to make an impression on young minds is a tremendous feeling of joy and accomplishment. Many more such moments come to mind. Now an honest confession – I’d always nurtured a secret desire to become a writer. I guess it was high on my wish list till this column happened.
I wrote scripts for plays during the time I dabbled with theatre and then I tried to write a full-fledged script. But they were all half-hearted attempts that were prematurely aborted. The only thing I ever seriously wrote was my diary. Penning my thoughts down was, at one point, the most powerful bit of writing I did. But that was for myself. But writing my column, and at times, sharing some of my deepest thoughts with my readers, helped me understand which side of the fence I really wanted to be.

{{/usCountry}}It may sound a little ambitious but I want to attempt a book, maybe on fitness or relationships, I don’t know. All I know is that this affair with writing will hopefully be a permanent one.
And maybe, I’ll get back to writing a column again. You just can never say, never. I don’t want to make a big deal out of it but at this point I would like to thank all the people who gave me this opportunity to make my debut as a columnist, and all the readers who loved it. All I can say is keep reading. And I wish everyone all the very best. So I sign off with lots of gratitude.
