IT major IBM launched a new autonomic software that it said will help developers and customers apply self-managing technology to complex systems and automate computing processes.

The world's largest information technology company said the software — a downloadable toolkit — can yield a 30-50 per cent time saving on IT tasks, according to its estimates.

The announcement was made at a press meet on the sidelines of IBM Rational Software Developer Conference here. The annual event was being held outside the US for the first time.

Close to 700 developers were attending the conference, Country Manager, IBM Rational Software, India, MK Bharatee said.

Vice-President, Rational Product Development and Customer Support, IBM Rational Software, Lee R Nackman said the IBM India Software Lab played a major role in supporting the new software within the IBM Autonomic Computing Toolkit.

The new software, IBM said, was an online resource for developers that helps them rapidly deploy self-managing functions into their applications and services.

IBM also in Bangalore on Thursday announced new software that it said can validate the performance and security of key software applications, including those that manage banking transactions, process credit card information and schedule airline reservations.

"IBM Rational Performance Tester for z/OS is the only product in the marketplace that allows the use of mainframes as the load generation platform to apply stress to Web applications running on Windows, UNIX and mainframe systems," it said.
