Police recovered two deadly improvised explosive devices (IED) at a venue where former chief minister and PDP patriarch Mufti Mohammad Sayed was to address a public rally in Bijbehara on Tuesday. The rally however had already been postponed, as Mufti was "indisposed"
Mufti Mohammed Syed was to address a public gathering at Dara-Shikoh Garden in his hometown Bijbehara . PDP general secretary and MLC Nizamuddin Bhat said that the rally was cancelled one day before, as "Mufti sahib was not well".
A police spokesperson said that police recovered two lethal IED's at the entrance gate of the garden on Tuesday during search operation. "Police had specific information that some unidentified militants had planted two IEDs at the venue", said the spokesperson.
"The whole area was immediately evacuated and Bomb disposal Squad of Anantnag Police was rushed to spot", the spokesperson added.
He disclosed that the two IEDs weighing around six kilograms were found to be in liquid form near the entrance gates of the garden. He said that the deadly explosive were covered with extra shrapnels to maximise the damage.
"The IEDs were safely diffused by Police Bomb Disposal Squad and police has registered a case in this regard and started a manhunt to nab the culprits", the spokesperson said.

Militants had, earlier, prevented Mufti Mohammad Sayed from holding a public rally at Wachi in Shopian on May 8. Militants had threatened attacks on Mufti's rally, which had forced the PDP leadership to call of the rally.
