Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahamed will lead the Indian delegation at the two-day Summit.

India was invited for the first time to the 17th Summit held in Algiers in March last year.

Noting that there were about four million Indians in Arab world including Gulf countries, Ahamed said the stability of the region was very important to India not only for its energy security of the country but for the welfare of Indians living in the region.

India has been continuing its special relationship with the Arab World and remained committed to the Palestine cause especially to the just right of the Palestinian people to have a homeland of their own living in peace with its neighbours.

The recent visits to India of King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, Emir of Qatar and frequent visits of several high-ranking ministers and officials of Arab countries were a manifestation of this special relationship, an official release said.
