India is on course to becoming the first country to dissociate healthcare from wealth, the founder of Narayana Hrudayalaya Hospital Group told a gathering of top global entrepreneurs in London on Wednesday night.

“Within the next 10 years we will prove to the world that the wealth of a nation has nothing to do with the quality of healthcare its citizens can enjoy,” Devi Shetty told his audience while accepting the FT-ArcelorMittal Boldness in Business Award for corporate social responsibility.
Shetty’s hospital group has rolled out comprehensive health cover, including free heart surgeries, to 1.7 million farmers in Karnataka.
