The Hindu community in Dartmouth, in southwest England, will have a public celebration of Diwali for the first time.

The celebration will be held on Saturday at Darmouth's Rollins Chapel, where a Hindu priest will perform the traditional puja, said the local Dartmouth News.

Later, members of the Indian community led by Prasad Jayanti, advisor to the Hindu student association Shanti, will light 1,500 lamps. Shanti has roughly 150 members who convene for weekly services at a Hindu temple.
