Villarreal said on Tuesday that midfielder Juan Roman Riquelme had traveled to Argentine to seek specialist advice on his left thigh injury.

Villarreal couldn't say how long Riquelme would be sidelined. The team meets Glasgow Rangers in a second-round first-leg game of the Champions League on February 22.

"Riquelme is always keen to play and will do everything to be fit so I hope he'll make a quick recovery," Villarreal doctor Juan Albors said.
The Argentina international played a major part in Villarreal's third-place finish in last season's Spanish league, winning the team a debut in the Champions League.
