Insurgents blew up four gas pipelines and two people were injured in landmine explosions in the restive southwestern Pakistani province of Balochistan, officials said on Saturday.
The insurgents blew up a pipeline at the Pirkoh gas field on Saturday a day after blowing up three pipelines at the Loti gas field, Abdul Samad Lasi, administrator of Dera Bugti district, told the agency.
He also said a paramilitary soldier was injured Friday when his truck hit a landmine at the Pirkoh field, while an employee of state-owned Pakistan Petroleum Limited was hurt Friday in another blast at the Sui gas field.
The insurgents fired about 70 rockets on villages in the district belonging to rival clans Friday, and also fired two dozen rockets on paramilitary troop camps in Bolan district on Friday but nobody was injured, Lasi said.
Balochistan is in the grip of an insurgency by nationalist tribes who are demanding greater autonomy and an increased share in profits from the impoverished region's vast oil and gas reserves.
Three Chinese engineers were killed in Hub district of Balochistan on Wednesday and a group linked to insurgents known as Balochistan Liberation Army claimed responsibility for the attack.
The attack was the second in the province targeting Chinese after three engineers helping to develop a deep seaport were killed in May 2004 in a car bomb attack.
