Indian Space Research Organisation chief G Madhavan Nair has been elected the chairman of the International Academy Astronautics, an official said in Panaji on Monday. He will be the first Indian and first non-American to hold the post.

He will formally take over October 16, the official added.
The IAA is an international community of experts committed to expanding the frontiers of space.
