"It is strange for NDA to speak about terrorism before elections. NDA should remember there were many attacks, including one on Parliament House when it was in power," he said while addressing a series of election meetings at Rourkela, Rairakhol and Sonepur in western Orissa.

Also during the NDA rule, a minister was forced to go to Kandahar to secure the release of hostages aboard a plane hijacked by terrorists, the Congress general secretary said.

Dubbing the opposition, including the NDA as "power hungry and a divided house", Rahul said, "their aim is to grab power by making hollow promises, while Congress always fulfills its commitment to ensure balanced and speedy development."

Seeking to woo the tribals in the adivasi-dominated belt, the young leader accused the NDA of neglecting the tribals, farmers, dalits and the downtrodden saying the Congress-led UPA had worked sincerely for their welfare.
