J&K Govt appoints SM Sahai as new IGP

Sahai joined his new posting soon after the government passed the order to this effect.

Jammu and Kashmir government has appointed SM Sahai as Inspector General of Police, Kashmir in place of K Rajendra Kumar who was injured in the terrorist attack on a youth Congress rally in Srinagar.

Sahai, who was recently appointed as IGP Crime and Railways, joined his new posting soon after the government passed the order to this effect on Sunday evening, an official spokesman said.

Meanwhile, the condition of Kumar, who was operated upon for a bullet injury in his thigh at SKIMS hospital, Soura was stated to be stable but doctors have decided to put him on tranquilisers to ease the pain.
