A high-level Japanese delegation on Tuesday submitted a proposal to the Bihar government for establishing a mega university at Nalanda - as dreamed by President APJ Abdul Kalam.
The nine-member Japanese delegation, including two members of the Japanese parliament, met Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in Patna to submit the proposal, which was accepted in principle by the state government.
After meeting Nitish Kumar, the delegation left for Nalanda.
The delegation had earlier met the president in New Delhi on Monday in connection with the proposal.
The President, during his joint address to the Bihar assembly March 28, had urged the state government to establish a mega university in Nalanda district, a part of his 10-point vision for the development of Bihar.
The government has already identified 450 acres of land for the university, which is estimated to cost about Rs 5 billion.
