Jewellers do business worth Rs 3 crore

While middle class people preferred to purchase rings ranging between Rs 2000 to Rs 5000, there were many who bought ornaments worth more than Rs 1 lakh. Similarly, people with low buying capacity queued up at utensil shops and bought items of daily use.

A reputed jewellery shop owners said around Rs 3 crore turnover was registered in the day-long purchase of gold and other jewellery.

Meanwhile, traders had introduced various schemes and are offering gifts to attract buyers. Huge rush of buyers was seen at shops. People bought idols of Goddess Laxmi and Lord Ganesh. Temporary shops had been set up by the roadsides to meet buyers’ demand. However, this threw traffic movement out of gear.

Two wheeler shops and electric appliances showrooms witnessed huge rush.
