A reputed jewellery shop owners said around Rs 3 crore turnover was registered in the day-long purchase of gold and other jewellery.
Meanwhile, traders had introduced various schemes and are offering gifts to attract buyers. Huge rush of buyers was seen at shops. People bought idols of Goddess Laxmi and Lord Ganesh. Temporary shops had been set up by the roadsides to meet buyers’ demand. However, this threw traffic movement out of gear.
Two wheeler shops and electric appliances showrooms witnessed huge rush.
