Jammu and Kashmir government will hand over to CBI the probe into alleged impersonation of daughter of a state minister during the entrance examanation for medical courses.
Seven alleged impersonators, including a girl, were apprehended when they were appearing in the entrance test of Acharaya Shri Chander College of Medical Science (ASCOMS) here on August 21.
They said the Common Entrance Test for MBBS/BDS (2010) of a private college in management quota was conducted at an examination centre established in the University of Jammu.
Those arrested are Lalit Kumar and Satinder Singh (both from Bihar), Om Prakash and Jabbar Singh (both Rajasthan), Mubeen Akhter and Shruti Gaur (both Uttar Pradesh) and Sheetal Gupta (Madhya Pradesh).
It was alleged that two youth, including a girl, were appearing in the examination for the kin of two politicians -PWD Minister G M Saroori and former minister Ram Pal who is a ruling National Conference leader.
The state government feels that an impartial probe was needed to bring out all the facts so that the public does not feel that anyone is being prosecuted unnecessarily or being shielded.
Sources said the state government would send a request to the Centre tomorrow for setting the probe process in motion.

{{/usCountry}}G M Saroori has, however, refuted the alleged impersonation, saying it was a "misinformation campaign" launched by vested interests to tarnish his image.
He claimed his daughter Huma is doing her BA course in the Government Womens College here, a fact which was being verified by the police.
