FORMER TEST cricketer and actor Vinod Kambli was the star attraction today at the concluding ceremony of the Chetna Sports Fair organised by Chaitanya Kashyap Foundation.
Also present were Sports and Youth Welfare and Tourism Minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia, Forest and Transport Minister Himmat Kothari and MLA Nirmala Bhuria. Kambli who was here for the first time said the sports fair was one of its kind and in fact was the world's biggest sports fair.
He also announced opening of a Sports Academy in Ratlam soon. He said special training would be imparted to budding talents so that Ratlam churns out more talents like PT Usha and Sania Mirza but also players like Sachin Tendulkar and Vinod Kamble.
“Every player should honour their parents and guru or coach in the game,” he said appreciating the dedication of the players. He said such programmes would bring to the fore may international level players.
Chief guest on the occasion Sports and Youth Welfare, Tourism Minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia said the Chetna Sports Fair was a matter of pride for the State. She also added, the district had given the State a Vikram award winner like Bindu Goyal.
She said the State Government should boost activities of such organisations, so that similar programmes could be organised in other States as well.

Presiding over the programme Forest and Transport Minister Himmat Kothari said Chetna Sports fair had given Ratlam an identity because such a colossal fair was not organised anywhere else in the country.
