Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi is likely to be discharged on Saturday from a hospital here following his recovery from high fever, hospital authorities said on Friday.

"The chief minister has completely recovered from his fever and other ailments and is cheerful. He will return home on Saturday after an extra night's rest," a hospital spokesperson said.

The 86-year-old DMK chief, who is in the Apollo Hospital here, is scheduled to share the dais with Congress president Sonia Gandhi at an election rally on Sunday. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, meanwhile, is likely to call on Karunanidhi on Saturday, DMK sources said.
