Residents of Maruti Kunj on Sunday decided to socially boycott families of the three youths who had allegedly kidnapped and murdered a 17-year old boy of the locality on November 1. Two of the families of the accused live in the same complex in Bhondsi, off Sohna Road, while another one stays in a neighbouring locality called Bhajanpur.
The residents could also decide to issue an ultimatum to these families and request them to relocate to other places fearing public outrage against them, in future. Another meeting of the residents will be held on Monday in the locality.
Three local boys along with four more were arrested on December 29 by the Gurgaon police. A number of residents of Maruti Kunj, a cooperative building complex promoted by employees of the automobile company Maruti Udyog Limited, today met and took a decision on the issue of boycotting the families.
The 17-year old DPS (Class XI) Maruti Kunj student Mohammad Azharuddin was kidnapped by Saiyad Aftaab (21) who is pursuing MBA, Manoj Yadav (21), a B.Sc. II student and Ravi Kumar alias Goldi (21), a photographer.
The trio took Mohammad Azharuddin to Etah on November 1 and killed him 30 km away in the jungle of Jaithra the same evening. Saiyad Aftaab (21) and Ravi Kumar alias Goldi live in Maruti Kunj and their fathers are former MUL employees.

{{/usCountry}}Manoj Yadav lives in Bhajanpur locality. Sukhram Pal, president of Maruti Employees Cooperative Housing Society said residents of the society had unanimously decided today that they should socially boycott families of the accused boys and not have any relations with them.
“The members today decided to socially boycott these families as the boys had committed a heinous crime and the shameful act of kidnapping the innocent boy Azharuddin and killing him later on. Members had diverse opinions and we could not reach a consensus on this today,” said Sukhram Pal.
However, another resident who preferred to be anonymous said that the decision to issue an ultimatum could be taken in a meeting on Monday.
“We are going to advise the families to leave the complex as some of the residents could get violent and act against them in a fit of rage. We will have a meeting on Monday,” he added.
“I feel cheated and deeply hurt as the boy Aftab who was so close to our family and would even visit us regularly, was responsible for this brazen act of kidnapping and murdering my son. I appeal to society to boycott these families,” said Mohammad Akhtar, father of Azharuddin.
