“All the clues in the case point to suicide. However, we are waiting for the medical report for confirmation,” said Senior Police Inspector Pradeep Suryavanshi. “Her parents too have not made any kind of complaint as such, so the matter seems very clear.”

Anushri Dutta is believed to have hanged herself at her flat in Andheri (East). The police suspect she committed suicide due to stress.

The police said the incident occurred at a flat near Kol Dongri after Dutta, who works as a ground staffer with Kingfisher Airlines, returned home in the afternoon.

They said Dutta reportedly got angry on finding that her friend Udday Davde (43) had come drunk to the flat. Dutta and Davde, said the police, were living together in the flat. Davde is married and a father of two. His family stays in Borivli, they added.

Davde and Dutta, they said, met in Ahmedabad in 2006 when the former was posted there as an engineer with Indian. Dutta’s family, however, did not approve of their friendship.

The police said that during the investigation they had learnt that Davde was not divorced.
