Kumble, declared man of the match for his haul of 13 wickets which saw him take his Test tally to 415, said his next target was to get to the 500-mark but his immediate aim was to ensure India won the four-Test series against the world champions.

"My next target is 500 but my first target and goal is to win the next two matches for India for a series victory over Australia," the leg spinner told reporters.

Kumble said the team was disappointed at having missed a great chance of winning the game.

"It was a very satisfactory performance but we are a little disappointed because we had great chance of winning this match.

"The first three days we had the edge and yesterday, Damien Martyn and Gillespie defied us but we enjoyed the advantage later in the evening. We had a great chance to win this match," he said.

On the track at the M A Chidamabaram Stadium, he said, "The pitch had little more bounce compared to the Bangalore strip. It definitely assisted spin but on the slower side. I had to bowl a lot more quicker on this wicket."
