From the past over 15 days most of the medicines, life-saving drugs and injections have run out of stock at SRN- the biggest referral hospital of the region. The hospital is unable to provide even fluids to the burn victims.

The senior staff nurses informed that from the past three weeks the hospital is facing worst ever crisis of emergency drugs, fluids and antibiotics immediately required to save the life of serious patients. "Right now we have the stock of only gentamycin and aciloc (for easing abdominal disorder). There is no fluid in the hospital store. Even the antibiotics like ampicillin, taxim, fortvene and epsolin injections have become completely out of stock. As the stock of most of the sleep induce medicines has also finished the attendants of trauma patients and burn victims are asked to immediately arrange these medicines," said a senior staff nurse on condition of anonymity.

Dr PC Saxena principal MLN Medical College said the SRN Hospital's medicine budget has become separate from the college's budget. Roughly the hospital receives Rs 25 lakh annually for the purchase of medicines. The SRN Hospital's superintendent-in-charge would be in a better position to tell the exact reason for the medicine crisis, since he is also having the DDO powers.

"I would still look into the matter and try to arrange medicines as early as possible. The fresh tenders for the purchase of medicines were also made recently," he further added.
