Pakistan has described the London talks between former premiers Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto as a meeting of "failed" politicians, who had become "irrelevant" to the country's politics as well as the masses.
Neither Sharif nor Bhutto had any role to play in Pakistani politics and their meeting on Thursday would bear no political implication, Pakistan's Information Minister Muhammad Ali Durrani said, according Pakistan's state-owned news agency APP.
During their meeting, Sharif and Bhutto brushed aside any rift between them and made it clear that they would never have any contact with President Pervez Musharraf for "political purposes".
Bhutto denied having held secret parleys with Musharraf to prevent her arrest in pending cases in case she returned home for the 2007 elections.
Terming the meeting as an attempt to lure media attention, Durrani said "these politicians, who spent 11 years in destabilising each other, had also made such failed attempts in the past but to no avail as the masses are no more interested".
On reports of a deal with Bhutto-led Pakistan Peoples Party, Durrani refuted such a development, saying it was mere 'gossips' and personal views of some politicians.

Governments do not have any deal, rather our government strongly believes in dialogue process and we remain in contact with the political parties in Parliament," he said, adding that the government was in touch with all those parties' leaders who believed in the election process and Parliament.
The Minister said that any change in the government would only be possible through election process.
