Long distance course: IIM-A-NIIT tie up

IIM-A in collboration with NIIT, is all set to launch its long distance programme for the working executives.

For working executives seeking to update their skills through elite B-schools, the Indian Institute of Managament-Ahmedabad has launched a distance learning programme in association with NIIT.

The premium management institute in the country is offering executive development programmes using broadband technology through specially designed centres, called studios, for advanced learning.

While IIM-A would provide management content by designing programmes and delivering it through an inter-disciplinary team of experienced faculty, NIIT will provide the technology, implement and manage the overall student experience.

"For us, the biggest challenge was to create an actual classroom experience into a technology enabled mode. This is a customised system that will not only facilitate teacher to student communication, but even student to student interaction," IIM-A director Bakul Dholakia said.

In this long distance programme, the business school will offer two courses, General Management course and Strategic Business Communication, which are of six and four months' duration respectively.

"This is not an MBA degree. It is not the education that should be given at entry level. We are talking about teaching working executives, who have atleast five years of experience," Dholakia said.
