In yet another case of police callousness, a 45-year-old man lost his life due to alleged health complications after he was taken to a police post by two constables in Vijay Nagar on Wednesday.
Police said Vinayak Pal had a pending case against him for an altercation in his neighbourhood in 2008. On Wednesday morning, two constables, Rakesh Kumar and Shailja Kant, went to his house in Sector 9 of Vijay Nagar and took Pal along with them on a bike.
This, despite the fact that Pal’s son Punit had warned them that his father was a heart patient and forcibly taking him along could create health complications. Later, some locals told the family that Pal was seen lying unconscious near a temple in Vijay Nagar area.
Pal was rushed to a private hospital in Noida. He was declared dead after an ECG. Later, the family and locals created ruckus near Vijay Nagar police post following which police officials lodged a case against the erring constables.
Pal’s family has also alleged that the constables manhandled their women.

{{/usCountry}}Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Prashant Kumar said, “The victim probably had a heart stroke. The constables are new recruits and should have taken precaution. We have ordered an inquiry into the incident.”
The two constables have been suspended and a case under section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of IPC was lodged against them.
Last week, a couple had committed suicide inside a police post after they were confined to illegal custody at Vardhmanpuram police post at Ghaziabad.
