Maoists blast police officials' houses in Orissa

Maoists used landmines on early Monday to blast newly built houses for police officials in Orissa's Malkangiri district.

Maoists used landmines on early Monday to blast newly built houses for police officials in Orissa's Malkangiri district, a police official said.

Guerrillas of the outlawed Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) exploded landmines at the empty houses which are part of a jail complex being built in MV 79 village, about 750 km from here.

A district police official told IANS the Maoists ran into a nearby forest after destroying the houses. A police party has been sent to the spot.
