Medical teachers want retirement at 62 years

The association handed over a requisition to Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav in this regard and suggested various means to resolve the shortage of senior teachers in medical colleges.

Mulayam Singh promised to consider the demands of the medical teachers and indicated that their length of service could be enhanced by two years like the teachers of intermediate colleges in Uttar Pradesh.

Inviting the attention of the chief minister, Rathi said that around half a dozen professors of BRD Medical College would retire in February while others would retire in the coming two years which would further aggravate the problem.

In his requisition, Dr Rathi said that 33 posts were required to be created in 22 various departments of the medical college to fulfill the norms of the Medical Council of India (MCI) for the teachers. He said six professor, 13 associates professors, 13 associated professors and 14 assistant professors were required in Anatomy, Pathology, Microbiology, Physiology, Paediatric and General Surgery departments.
