A study has shattered the myth that men think about sex every seven seconds. However, it claims they do think about bedding women a lot more than females. And females think about food more than they think about sex, researchers at Ohio State University have found.
For their study, the researchers checked 163 female and 120 male students by putting them through a series of written tests followed by a clicker to tally their thoughts on food, sex or sleep.
They found that men think about sex on an average of 19 times a day, the equivalent of once every 50 minutes. However, some of the men in the study recorded 388 thoughts of sex in a day. Men also think about food 18 times a day and think of sleep around 11 times a day, the study found.
In contrast, women only think about sex 10 times a day and they think about food less than 15 times a day. And, for women, sleep crops up 8.5 times a day. The most any woman thought about sex in the research was 140 times a day.
The study has showed that men are more concerned, in general, about their biological needs, which include sex, food and sleep.
