A minor girl was seriously injured after being allegedly mercilessly beaten by her teacher in a Govt primary school in Nurpur.

A minor girl was seriously injured after being allegedly mercilessly beaten by her teacher in a government primary school in Nurpur for poor handwriting.

Irked by the bad handwriting of Anjali, a class-III student of government primary school, in Nurpur sub-division, her teacher Vijay Sharma brutally beat the girl yesterday.

According to a complaint lodged with Kandwal police station by the girl's aunt, the teacher first thrashed the kid who hit the desk and fell. Showing no mercy, he continued beating her with stick till she bled from head.

Anjali had lost her mother recently and her father is a labourer. When her elder sister, a student of standard-V of the same school, tried to save her she was allegedly threatened with dire consequences by the accused teacher.

Anjali was rushed to civil hospital Nurpur by police.

Senior Medical Officer of the hospital Subhash Thakur told PTI that the girl had injuries in head, elbow and back.

Sources in the police station said they were waiting for the medical report of the girl after, which stringent action will be taken against the teacher.

Block elementary education officer has been sent to the school to inspect and send a report, Assistant Director District Elementary Education Satish Gupta said.
