MPSIDC, CIIM sign MoU; more firms keen

EVEN AS Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan interacted with a large number of leading Malaysian companies during his visit to Malaysia, the Madhya Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation (MPSIDC) signed an MoU with the Consortium of Indian Industries in Malaysia (CIIM).

CIIM Chairman Umang Sharma said Indian industry in Malaysia is keen on becoming partner in investment projects in the State. He congratulated the Chief Minister for his effort to showcase MP.

Malaysia South -South Association (MASSA) vice-chairman Tan Shri Dato Michael Chen signed the MoU on behalf of his association. The MASSA is the prime organisation for promotion of trade and investment between developing countries.

The Chief Minister also met Malaysian Works Minister Sema Vellu and discussed possibilities of inviting investment in infrastructure and tourism sector in the State.

In response to CM’s invitation, several investors and investment promotion bodies have expressed keenness to explore possibilities of examining potential projects in the State.

The interactive meet was organised by the State Government in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industries and also Indian High Commission, Malaysia.

He invited them to participate in the investors’ meet to be held on January 16 and January 17, 2007. The Chief Minister and his delegation were briefed by Malaysian Industrial Development Authority (MIDA) and also Small and Medium Industries Development Corporation (SMIDEC) about their policies and initiatives.

The road show attracted a gathering of about 100 Malaysian businessmen who expressed interest in working with MP in areas such as road building, manufacturing and infrastructure development. Specific project proposals included bamboo project, food processing and IT enabled services.
