That’s the conclusion of a study from the University of Warwick in the UK, which has found out that the more servings of fruits and vegetables people ate, the better their mental well-being.

For their research, scientists from Warwick and Dartmouth College in the US analysed the eating habits of 80,000 people across Britain and found that well-being peaked at seven portions a day. Meanwhile, the consumption of fruits and vegetables is often dismal, as researchers point out that most people eat just one portion or less per day.

More Benefits
There’s more reason to love your salad. A new study published in the British Medical Journal also found out that those who eat more green, leafy vegetables are less prone to developing the medical scourge of the 21st century, type 2 diabetes.

Fruits and vegetables can also help you battle those bulges in a healthy way. “Develop a daily habit of carrying fresh vegetable and fruits of your liking in your lunch box to work. This way you will avoid munching unhealthy snacks that leads to weight gain and also depression in some cases,” says health expert Prachi Agarwal.
