THE CITY police are trying to unravel the mystery surrounding the death of a Navneet Chaudhary, 35, who was found dead in suspicious circumstances at his flat in Surendra Palace late on Wednesday night.
It was after midnight that he was rushed to a private hospital where he was declared brought dead. Chaudhary, who runs a travel agency, had died as a result of a bullet wound.
His wife earlier told police that Chaudhary was showing her the functioning of a revolver and had kept it on his temple when he accidentally pressed the trigger and the bullet hit him.
Though the police recovered the bullet, the revolver surprisingly remains missing. Police sources said the deceased’s wife also gave contradictory statements about the revolver. However, the police are yet to interrogate the grief-stricken family members.
While the post-mortem report is yet to arrive, police surmised that either it was an accident or suicide. Police said the revolver was unlicensed and perhaps any of the deceased’s friends hid it after the incident. Sources said the revolver belonged to one of Chaudhary’s friends and he had brought it home to show it to his wife.

{{/usCountry}}Police said that Navneet was married for the last five years but was childless and remained depressed owing to this reason. Sub-division Officer of Police (SDOP) Misrod, Rajesh Bhadoria, said the police were investigating the case and if it was found that there was any foul play then a case would be registered. The search for the firearm is also on and a case of concealing crime would be registered once it was found who hid the revolver.
