Naxals said that they will release five jawans of the Chhattisgarh Armed Force, who had been abducted on January 25, by Saturday night.
The Maoists had kidnapped the jawans and a villager in Narayanpur district on the eve of the Republic Day.
CPI (Maoist) spokesperson Prabhat called up the local mediapersons and said the five - Ramadhar Patel, Raghunandan Dhruv, T Ekka, Ranjan Dubey and Manishankar would be released at Karimeta village in Abuzmad area on Saturday night.
The abducted villager was freed later, while the Naxals, through the local media, had presented an 11-point charter of demands for the release of the jawans. One of their demands was restriction on Army activities in Narayanpur.
Social activist Swami Agnivesh, human rights campaigner Gautam Navlakha and relatives of the abducted persons would be present at Karimeta.
The Naxals also said that they would not attack the security forces till February 12 midnight and demanded a reciprocal gesture from the forces.
Police sources said that following this demand, patrolling in the forested areas has been stopped for the next 24 hours.
