Addressing the affected people at Thathri, Kahra, Bhatyas, Gandoh and other interior areas, Dr Kamal urged his party workers to fan out to the remote and far-flung areas, meet the sufferers and coordinate in the gigantic task of mitigating the sufferings of the people.

"We are not oblivious of your sufferings and assure you that all possible efforts would be taken to make you comfortable within the given situation", he told people.

Provincial president Devender Singh Rana referred to the gravity of the situation caused by nature's wrath and said: "We want to supplement the efforts in mitigating the sufferings of the victims."

Referring to the special package sought by chief minister Omar Abdullah during his meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Rana hoped this would go a long way in implementing the rehabilitation programme in the affected region.

He announced conversion of district, block and Panchayat Halqa committees of the National Conference in the three districts into relief committees to ensure that people are helped in a big way. A high-level National Conference team, currently camping in the affected region, continued its interaction with people on the third day on Sunday.
