"We are trying that NCP and Congress together should fight elections because that any crack will benefit to the communal forces like NDA," Tarique told PTI in Panaji.

The NCP leader was in Goa to attend a Parliamentary committee's meeting.

Anwar said that the coalition issue is being discussed by the party leaders and hopefully everything will be settled soon.

On the issue of Sharad Pawar's projection as prime ministerial candidate, Anwar termed the projection as feelings of the party workers. "It's the feelings of the party workers (to project Pawar as PM). But at the same time, we understand that in democracy number game is very important," he said.

"When numbers are not in your favour its difficult to get high post," Anwar said and in the same breathe he added, "Sharad pawarji is a capable man and a prime ministerial material. If he gets the chance, he will prove the worth."
