Daniel Vettori will lead an unchanged New Zealand cricket team in the second of four ODIs against Sri Lanka on Tuesday as captain Stephen Fleming extends a period of paternity leave.
Fleming missed the first match, won by New Zealand by seven wickets at Queenstown on Saturday, to be with his wife after the birth on Thursday of their first child.
Coach John Bracewell confirmed Fleming had asked to spend a few more days at home and will not rejoin the New Zealand team until the third match in his hometown, Wellington, on Friday.
Bracewell saw no need to change the New Zealand side after its commanding performance on Saturday. Newcomers Jamie How, who scored 58 on debut, and Peter Fulton, who made an unbeaten 70 in his second match for New Zealand, saw the Kiwis safely past Sri Lanka's modest total of 164.
"We continued some momentum from the Australian series but, having said that, Sri Lanka had only just arrived," Bracewell said.
"They didn't have any warm-up games under their belt and we were probably able to take advantage of that. I'd expect them to be a different proposition at Christchurch, very much so.
