THE JUDGE’S committee for monitoring admission procedure in private professional institutes has given permission to the Association of Professional Institutes – the body of private engineering, MBA and MCA colleges – to hold their own entrance examination.
The API had given a proposal to the judge’s committee to conduct a separate entrance exam for private colleges on May 27.
The decision came at the committee meeting on Monday. However, the permission is subject to conditions that the API conducts a free and fair entrance test, every process of which would be reviewed by the judge’s committee. The committee can stall the process if any discrepancy is noted. “We will keep an eye on their every move,’’ committee chairman Justice Chandresh Bhushan told the Hindustan Times.
The decision came in absence of API representatives as they failed to turn up at the meeting. The decision was taken on the basis of the proposal for the examination put forth by the API during the committee’s February 5 meeting. The judge’s committee had then asked the association to submit a detailed proposal regarding the process to be adopted for the entrance exams.
The Association sent written reply to the committee and mentioned that it would be able to conduct entrance exam only if it received permission by February 12. However, their representatives failed to turn up at the meeting. On the basis of the earlier proposal and the written submission, the committee decided to give a go-ahead on separate entrance test, albeit with riders.

{{/usCountry}}The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary, Technical Education and Training and member secretary of the committee Dilip Mehra; members Dr CVP Pillay and Surjit Singh. Technical Education Additional Secretary Shamimuddin and Judges Committee OSD Prateek Vajpaiyee were also present.
API secretary Suresh Chouksey said the decision on the next step would be taken after a meeting of the member institutes.
