“Voter turnout is not our concern but to ensure free and fair elections,” Election Commissioner M Y Qureshi told reporters here when asked about low voters turnout in Tral assembly segment in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Tral assembly segment recorded a low of 2.83 per cent voters turnout yesterday.

Srinagar parliamentary constituency is slated to go to polls on May seven while Baramulla and Ladakh Lok Sabha constituencies are going to polls on May 13 in the two remaining phases of elections in the state.

“In order to ensure free and fair elections, a slew of measures including intensifying videography of the polling have been initiated to eliminate malpractices,” Qureshi said.
