The total number of H1N1 flu cases in Karnataka rose to 31 on Thursday with a 32-year-old person testing positive for the virus, health officials said.

The total number of H1N1 flu cases in Karnataka rose to 31 on Thursday with a 32-year-old person testing positive for the virus, health officials said.

The man, who arrived at the International Airport here from Kuala Lumpur by a Singapore Airlines flight on July 4, was admitted with suspected H1N1 symptoms to Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases on Wednesday.

His throat swab, which was sent to National Institute of Virology (NIV), Pune, tested positive on Thursday, the officials told PTI.

He is being treated at Lakeside Hospital in Bangalore. Of the total 31 positive H1N1 cases, 25 were discharged while the other six are under treatment - four in Lakeside and two in Victoria hospitals.

A total of 407 samples had been sent to NIV and number of passengers screened in the state had touched 2.19 lakh, they added.
