IT IS likely that officers of more than 45 years of age may no longer be engaged in making of working plan as two senior forest officers are framing a new methodology for preparing working plan as the existing one suffered from many defects. Consequently, the MP Rangers Association suggested some amendments to the Principal Secretary of Forest.
These officers will soon present the amended methodology to the State Government and after the approval of the government new methodology will become effective making officers older than 45 years redundant for this work.
Talking to Hindustan Times, MP Rangers’ Association president DK Dubey said that rangers of more than 45 years were being engaged in making of working plan but this was adversely affecting the efficiency since this exercise requires daily movement of about 20 km on foot which would not be possible for a 45-year-old man.
He reasoned that even the British did not engage such old officers and this change was made in the State in the absence of young range officers.
Dubey maintained that physical fitness is necessary for daily movement of 20 km on foot, as this is fieldwork hence officers of less than 45 years should be engaged in this exercise.
Earlier, this work was done under directions of Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) but recently conservator has been given the charge of this work hence its natural corollary is that instead of rangers, assistant conservators of forest should do this work, he said further.
