The victim’s father, a former Maruti Udyog Limited employee, has blamed officials of DLF and Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) for the death and filed a case.

Manish Sharma’s body was found in a drain in the waterlogged B-block. His scooter was found parked near the drain.

No arrest has been made but the police have begun investigation, Preet Singh, investigating officer of DLF City (Phase I) police station, said.

“He went missing after going to DLF City on a scooter, carrying a battery to fix a car that had broken down. I called him on his mobile around 2.45 p.m.,” the victim’s father, Pawan Sharma, said. “He said he’d reached B-block but the call got disconnected. Perhaps he could not see the overflowing drain and fell in it. His scooter was found parked near the drain.”

B-Block, which is located in a low-lying area, was submerged in about five feet deep water after Saturday’s rains that lasted for almost five hours.

HUDA administrator Nitin K. Yadav said he will ask his officials to investigate.
