In a horrific accident, a 33-year-old man was killed and two others seriously injured when their car rammed a stationary truck loaded with iron bars in Sector 60 on Friday morning.
Police said iron rods protruding from the truck pierced the car and went through the driver’s chest and face, killing him instantly.
According to the police, the accident took place around 7am near Shopprix Mall when the victims were returning home in a Hyundai i10 car from their office at Sector 57. The victim, identified as Amit Kumar Srivastava, was driving the car.
Srivastava’s colleagues —Vikrant Sharma and Sudhir Dubey — were rushed to a nearby hospital.
The trio work in a financial firm and had left office around 6am. The truck was allegedly parked on the wrong side of the road and the iron rods were protruding at least five feet outside the vehicle.
Srivastava, who worked as a senior accounts manager in the firm, died on the spot. One of the iron rod’s pierced Sharma’s right hand, and he is still in the hospital. Dubey, however, escaped with minor injuries.
“It seems the driver had lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a stationary truck, which was parked on the wrong side,” said SK Singh, inspector of Sector 58 police station.

{{/usCountry}}Singh said it took the police about an hour to detach the car from the truck. According to an eyewitness, after the horrific crash, the man sitting on the rear seat (Dubey) asked passersby to help him remove his friends from the vehicle. The passersby tried to help him till the police reached the spot.
A case has been registered against the truck driver at the Sector 58 police station on a complaint filed by Srivastava’s relatives.
