Orissa to spend Rs 250 cr in flood-hit areas

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said the government would mobilise Rs 250 crore for restoration of infrastructure.

Orissa government on Monday announced to spend Rs 250 crore immediately for restoring infrastructure including roads and bridges damaged in the flood-hit districts.

After reviewing the flood situation and discussing need for restoration work, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said the government would mobilise Rs 250 crore for restoration of infrastructure.

The restoration work would be initiated within a month, he said adding his government would request the Centre to provide one lakh Indira Awas houses to flood-affected villagers.

The chief minister also announced to convert various short-term cooperative loans into medium-term loans to benefit the loan recipients in the affected areas.
